Be A Good Egg

o.k. I originally clicked on this just to get free eggs, I admit it.  But then I read further.  What a neat idea.  A pledge to eat healthy and be an all-around good person.

Get Involved. Stay Involved.

Pledging is just the start. Here are a dozen ways you can continue to be a Good Egg.

I pledge to be a Good Egg by:

1.Eating more healthfully.

2.Helping my family eat more nutritiously.

3.Being active three days each week.

4.Volunteering at a local food bank at least once a month.

5.Creating a care package for someone at a local shelter.

6.Helping serve meals at a local soup kitchen.

7.Gathering clothes from neighbors and donating them to a homeless shelter.

8.Organizing a group to clean up a park in my neighborhood.

9.Volunteering at an animal shelter.

10.Mentoring a student in need.

11.Organizing a local food drive.

12.Recycling and reducing my carbon footprint.

“Eat good. Do good everyday.”

ARCHIVES: Is this a Van or a Dressing Room?

I know my schedule is crazy, crazy, crazy, especially in the fall. I really didnt think it could get any more complicated, but of course it did. Saturday night, I packed the bags. We needed a birthday party outfit, a volleyball uniform, 2 soccer uniforms, 2 dinner outfits and some extra jackets in case it got cold. All set. Loaded into van. Everything checked and double checked.

So, where we're we off too? Surprise, nowhere! Seriously, nowhere but our usually spots around town. Unfortunately, every activity started and ended at the exact same time or it overlapped by 15 minutes or so, making us late to the next activity.

11:30 am and off I went. And went. And went. DD#2 changed outfits 5!!! times; 3 of those were in the backseat of the van. DD#1 had a much easier day and only had to change twice.

I remembered all uniforms, shoes, special socks, shinguards, knee pads, birthday gift, camera, ponytail holders and brushes. Even managed to get gas in the van.

ARCHIVES: A Star is Born, her TV debut

Woo Hoo, my baby girl got her 15 minutes of fame today! It was more like 45 seconds, but who's counting? DD#3 got to model Halloween costumes for KSDK Ch. 5 News today. She was thrilled, I was thrilled. She modeled a fortune teller and I came up w/ a few ideas to enhance the costume even more. I'm adding a white bouncy ball as a fortune globe. I'm adding huge gold hoop earrings and lots rings.

Then, DD#3 got to try on a 'kitty cat' costume. It still needs some whiskers and face paint, but it was cute.
She wasnt going for the flower leis. "too itchy!!" so the cameraman had to shoot really quick just to get a glimpse of her in this outfit. They were going for a 'Hula Girl' w/ grass skirt look. Didnt happen.
Finally, she got to try on a scarecrow costume, well sorta. We were going on 35+ minutes of filming and baby girl was getting restless. Hobby Lobby employee only had time to cut out 1/2 of scarecrow's burlap bib and 1 wrist wrap. You had to use your imagination for the rest.

After all that DD#3 decided she liked her Juicy Box costume I'd made her from last year as the best one. What a great compliment to mom. Thanks baby. So, we got to show the costume on the air for a nano-second but that was good enough. Now we've got it on DVR and get to show all the relatives when they come over. DD#3 has decided she loves being a 'tv star' and she guesses 'it'll be o.k. if I'm on tv again mom." As long as she gets a shake afterwards!

CAUTION: TN w/ TXT in the HSE

That's Caution: Teen w/ Texting in the House for the rest of us non- texters. My oldest DD just turned 13. We caved and got her a cell phone. Havent seen her since. She actually Texted me TWICE when I was 6 minutes late picking her up from a sleepover. "MOM - u need 2 p/u me NOW." Yes, twice. She has yet to learn it is illegal and darn near impossible (for us parents anyway) to text while driving. Somehow I need to find a way to work this to my advantage. Tomorrow I think I'll txt her: "DD - u need 2 p/u ur rm NOW." and repeat every 3 minutes til its done?

Always wanted to start a blog or several. Never had the time. Thanks Chevy for pushing the issue and finally making this a priority for me. Yes, I procrastinate, but only because I have to take care of the more important things first. So here it is - my Mommy Madness Blog!! And I still have 23 1/2 hours til deadline. Yeah me!

I'm even going one step further and I'll do a few blogs and backdate them so you all can see what I'll be posting about this month and in the future.
